After 8 years
524 Village Panchayats
2,136 villages
and 2.4 million empowered people in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh,
it brings us immense pleasure to announce that HCL Foundation is expanding its flagship rural development programme HCL Samuday to 95 Village Panchayats of Thoothukudi district in Tamil Nadu. HCL Foundation has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to benefit 1.40 lakh people in the geography. The program in its initial phase shall be implemented across Pudur and Vilathikulam blocks of the district, focusing on areas such as water resource management, agriculture, health, education, malnutrition management, and livelihoods leading to improved income for families.

The MoU was signed by Alok Varma, Project Director – HCL Samuday, HCL Foundation, and Tmt P. Amudha, Principal Secretary to Government, in the presence of Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, Honorable Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Government of Tamil Nadu; Dr Nidhi Pundhir, Vice President - Global CSR, HCL Foundation; and Shikhar Malhotra, Board Member, HCLTech.

HCL Foundation, in collaboration with the Basic Ed

HCL Foundation, in collaboration with the Basic Education Department, GoUP, and district administration of Hardoi, is equipping young students of grades 6-8 across 11 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) and 15 Govt. Composite Schools with digital literacy, coding, and computational thinking skills.

Demonstrating the effectiveness of this programme, a group of students showcased their learnings via a workshop organised by the HCL Foundation at the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), Lucknow on 19th April. Successful comprehension and implementation of digital literacy concepts by children was the key highlight of the workshop. This was particularly evident in their ability to incorporate their learnings in different forms of media such as animated movies and video games.

Mr Vijay Kiran Anand, Director of General School Education, Govt. of UP, and Mr Alok Varma, Project Director - HCL Samuday (HCL Foundation), presided over the workshop. Additionally, several CSR & philanthropic organisations participated in the workshop to review & understand the model of this programme in detail.

Highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, a two-day National Climate Conclave was organised in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, earlier this month. Inaugurated by Shri Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, the conclave provided a platform to various stakeholders for insightful exchange on climate solutions and sustainable practices that can be adopted in India.
HCL Samuday, the flagship program of HCL Foundation, had an opportunity to participate and exhibit their model of creating climate-resilient gram panchayats through climate-resilient initiatives. The exhibition stall was visited by Shri Yogi Adityanath, CM, GoUP, and Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of UP, where they interacted with the team in detail and acknowledged their efforts.
